The Alexander Technique is a method of developing heightened awareness of how the body moves. Through lessons, a pupil of the Alexander Technique learns to release any excess tension while carrying out everyday activities. It has proven to be a valuable technique for musicians of all levels and genres, enabling players to perform without pain, with technical ease, and to reach their full creative potential.
I’ve been teaching the Alexander Technique since 2001, and specialise in working with musicians and artists. My work is also informed by a training in counselling and a regular meditation practice.
Yehudi Menuhin is one of many great musicians that speak highly of the Alexander Technique. Other musicians include Paul McCartney, Sting, Julian Bream, James Galway, Julie Andrews, Madonna and Sir Adrian Boult.
